The Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) successfully held its 32nd National Convention last May 27-28 at the Subic Bay Convention and Exhibition Center in Subic, Zambales.
More than 1000 delegates from PCGA's 12 Auxiliary Districts attended the convention which was hosted by the CGADNCR-CL with the full support and assistance from SBMA Chairman and Administrator Roberto V. Garcia.
The annual convention gathers the PCGA officers all across the country to discuss previous year’s performance and further develop strategies aimed at helping the PCG accomplish its mission in promoting safety of life and properties at sea, and protecting the marine environment. It also serves as a time for the officers to re-connect with fellow PCGA members and exchange ideas.
The convention featured various lectures on marine environmental preservation and protection, disaster awareness and response, and climate change. Presenters include Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) Sec. Neric Acosta; Department of Agriculture's Climate Change Consultant, Dr. Esteban Gudelano; and CAPT ERNESTO ECHAUZ PCGA on search and rescue and maritime safety procedures.
Delegates were also able to make rounds on different exhibits as the event likewise hosted the very first PCGA EXPO.
The PCGA EXPO begun with a ribbon cutting led by VADM VALENTIN B PRIETO JR PCGA, National Director and COMMO SALVADOR G TIANGO JR PCGA, Director Auxiliary District CGADNCR-CL. The ribbon cutting was hosted by Ms. Mys Sandico, CEO of PMCM Events Management.
Static displays of CGADNCR-CL's air, land and floating assets were featured as well as exhibits of partner agencies from the real estate, travel and tourism, local delicacies, textiles and clothing, and accessories.
Meanwhile, PCG and PCGA delegates were treated to two consecutive nights of fellowship were great food and entertainment were provided for by VADM PRIETO PCGA and RADM WILLIAM M MELAD PCG, Coast Guard Commandant for the National Director's Night and the Commandant's Night respectively.
