A Fun Run for a cause entitled “Takbo Para sa Kaligtasan at Kalinisan ng Karagatan at Kalikasan” (KKKK) was successfully held last May 9, 2015 at the Remy Field in Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The event was organized by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA), in cooperation with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).
According to CAPT Randy Escolango PCGA of 111th Auxiliary Squadron and SBMA’s Deputy Administrator during the kickoff ceremony, proceeds from the fun run would go to the Squadron’s environmental projects, such as, shore cleanup drives, sea protection awareness campaigns, and other related projects. He also added that such event is being encouraged by SBMA Chairman Roberto Garcia to promote Subic Bay Freeport Zone as a Sports capital that aims not only to preserve the wellness of participants but also the environment.
About 600 runners participated in the 10k, 5k, and 3k kilometer-length categories. Awarding of cash and gift prizes to winners was presented by COMMO Joel S Garcia PCG, PCG District NCR-CL Director and by RADM Valentin B Prieto Jr PCGA, PCGA District NCR-CL.
