PCG: The Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) lauded and welcomed VADM JOSEPH N DY PCGA as its new National Director during its 30th National Convention in Manila last 23 – 24 May 2014.
Pleasantly surprised by the election results, VADM DY PCGA reaffirmed the organization's commitment to support the Philippine Coast Guard in its mission of promoting safety of life and property at sea and protecting the marine environment.
In his speech, the new PCGA National Director stated that his leadership and administration would focus in developing projects to mitigate climate change and global warming.
This, according to him, can further be achieved by establishing, maintaining and training Auxiliarists from coastal barangays and working closely with Coast Guard counterparts in various areas.
"Fostering stronger bond with the PCG is a top priority in my agenda and I need the cooperation of everyone to achieve this," he said during the Turnover of Leadership and Management last 24 May at the Le Pavillon in Manila.
He also appealed to the PCG to work hand in hand with its uniformed civilian counterpart in achieving their common goals.
Meanwhile, Coast Guard Commandant VADM RODOLFO D ISORENA PCG, who led the Turn Over ceremonies, commended VADM DANILO G CABALDE PCGA, immediate past National Director, for steering the PCGA through hard times and for setting a higher standard for the organization.
He also expressed the same expectations and hopes from VADM DY PCGA, who was likewise promoted from Rear Admiral to Vice Admiral on the same day.
VADM DY PCGA, prior to his election as the National Director, served as the Director Auxiliary District (DAD) of Coast Guard Auxiliary District National Capital Region-Central Luzon (CGADNCR-CL) and the Deputy National Director for Operations of the PCGA. He is also a member of the 101st Auxiliary Squadron under CGADNCR-CL - the first and founding Squadron of the entire PCGA.
VADM DY PCGA took over the leadership and management from VADM DANILO G CABALDE PCGA who served as National Director from 2012-2014, leading 12 Auxiliary Districts and approximately 10,000 members. In a fitting and solemn ceremony, the delegates witnessed the turnover of authority with reverence which shall establish a tradition in the PCGA years to come. - (By LTJG Yashika Torib PCGA)
